Dr Natasha Lannin
BSc(OT) GradDip (Case Management) PhD AccOT

Natasha is an occupational therapist whose research, clinical and teaching activities have focused on rehabilitation of both adults and children as a means to improve quality of life. Her developing program of research focuses on randomised controlled trials in occupational therapy. This focus has resulted in scholarly presentation of research projects undertaken in a variety of clinical settings, and examining the relevance and utility of occupational therapy assessments, interventions and outcomes. Prior to working at RSU, Natasha worked for many years in acute hospital and rehabilitation in the home services with people who had experienced acquired brain injury and those who required general rehabilitation. Her teaching and research interests include the effectiveness of occupational therapy interventions used in rehabilitation; evidence based practice; and the use of the randomised controlled trial design in occupational therapy research. In 2001 she won the OT-Australia Research Award for her contribution towards the advancement of the research base of occupational therapy. She was an APA recipient, which has facilitated her recent PhD completion. Natasha has had a steady program of research investigating management of muscle contracture in adults who have sustained acquired brain impairment (from injury or stroke). Natasha’s current collaborative research projects include investigating pre-discharge occupational therapy home visits, management of contracture and upper limb function in children with cerebral palsy, and the use of Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) devices as memory devices after brain impairment.
