Ian Cameron is a Rehabilitation Physician with a PhD in Medicine. His major interests are functioning, disability and rehabilitation. The common theme of most of his research is injury related disability. Ian has research projects in rehabilitation and recovery after injury, falls and injury prevention, and health services research. He is investigating the evidence base for rehabilitation and works closely with the Cochrane Collaboration.

The Rehabilitation Studies Unit is an interdisciplinary research group. Ian collaborates with rehabilitation professionals, epidemiologists, social scientists, health economists and other medical practitioners. He is actively involved in the operation of the Sydney Medical School at the University of Sydney and teaches in it.

Ian provides expert advice to Australian and State Governments, other semi-government organizations such as the NSW Motor Accidents Authority, the NSW Lifetime Care and Support Authority and NSW WorkCover, Area Health Services and other organisations. This advice relates to injury management, rehabilitation programs, and health services for older people and people with disabilities.

Other areas of work are as supervisor of post doctoral fellows and PhD students, as a clinician (Consultant Physician in Rehabilitation Medicine) and in administration (Director of Medical Services at Royal Rehabilitation Centre Sydney). Ian is a Board member of a number of organisations that work in the rehabilitation, injury and disability fields.
